Verena Rieser

Verena Rieser is a professor at Heriot-Watt University where she directs research on Spoken Dialogue Systems and Natural Language Generation. She is also a co-founder of the artificial intelligence business Alana. She is the principal investigator on several financed research projects and business awards, and the Royal Society recently presented her with a Senior Research Fellowship. Her specific area of study is the convergence of machine learning and language technology. She has worked on multidisciplinary projects involving decision support, spoken conversation systems, human-robot interaction, and natural language production.
