Co-founded and Chief Scientific Advisor of the Vector Institute

Geoffrey is a cognitive psychologist and computer scientist with British-Canadian roots. He is well-known for his work on artificial neural networks, on which he has published frequently, notably in prestigious scientific periodicals like Nature. It outlines a technique for feedforward neural network training. He has been conducting deep learning AI research since 2013 at the University of Toronto and the Google Brain team. He co-founded the Vector Institute in 2017 and was appointed its Chief Scientific Adviser. The Vector Institute conducts AI research to support Canadian economic growth.
