At the University of Chicago, Chenhao Tan teaches computer science as an assistant professor. He graduated from Tsinghua University with a bachelor's in economics and from the Department of Computer Science at Cornell University with a Doctorate. He worked as a postdoc for a year at the University of Washington and was an assistant professor for three years before moving on to UChicago. His areas of interest in the study include computational social science, natural language processing, and human-centered machine learning. In addition to KDD, WSDM, ICWSM, and ACL and WWW, he has also published articles there. Several news organizations, including the New York Times and the Washington Post, have written about his work. In addition, he received honors from the NSF (CAREER), the NSF (CRII), Salesforce (research), Amazon (research), Facebook (fellowship), and Yahoo! (Key Scientific Challenges).
