Anil K. Jain is a University Distinguished Professor at Michigan State University and a researcher in pattern recognition, machine learning, computer vision, and biometrics recognition (PhD, 1973, Ohio State University; B. Tech., IIT Kanpur). He served on the Forensics Science Standards Board and the US Defense Science Board. In addition to the King-Sun Fu Prize, he has received Guggenheim, Humboldt, and Fulbright grants. Jain was given the title of Doctor Honoris Causa by the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and Hong Kong Baptist University for his contributions to pattern recognition and biometrics. He is a Fellow of ACM, IEEE, AAAS, and SPIE and served as Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence. Jain was elected to the National Academy of Inventors for his work in technology transfer, for which he has been issued 8 U.S. and Korean patents. Jain is a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), the World Academy of Science (TWAS), the Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE), and the American National Academy of Engineering (NAE).
